The University of Maine at Fort Kent Board of Visitors is encouraging the public to attend a Business Breakfast featuring guest speaker, Eliot Cutler. The breakfast will take place on Wednesday, June 1, at 7:30 a.m. in the Nadeau Hall conference room on the UMFK campus.

Featured speaker, Eliot Cutler, is the Chief Executive Officer of the Maine Center for Graduate Professional Studies. At the breakfast, he will speak about his work as the leader of this new enterprise that will expand and realign traditional programs in the University of Maine System to create a model for entrepreneurial, multi-disciplinary graduate business and legal programs and to help drive statewide economic development.

The Maine Center for Graduate Professional Studies will bring together under one roof in Portland, the University of Maine School of Law, the University of Maine and University of Southern Maine MBA programs, and the Muskie School of Public Service. The Center will feature integrated curricula, close engagement with the Maine legal, business and entrepreneurial communities, expanded online and experiential learning, new degree and certificate offerings, and research and development aligned with Maine's competitive advantages and economic development needs. The Center will be a key part of the solution to the skills and workforce gaps that are challenging businesses in our area today.

Cutler has earned a reputation as a visionary strategist and leader, a passionate and effective advocate and a collaborative and pragmatic problem-solver. As a public servant, Cutler helped craft America's foundational environmental laws and managed the policies and budgets of federal energy, natural resources, science and environmental agencies. Later in his career Cutler was twice an independent candidate for governor in his home state of Maine.

Tickets for the breakfast are $12 and must be purchased by Monday, May 23.
