UMFK Blake Library Gallery features exhibit Minds Draw Meaning and Methods

The University of Maine at Fort Kent Blake Library Gallery is featuring “Minds Draw Meaning and Methods,” the work of students in Therese L. Provenzano’s Art 200: Fundamentals of Art-Drawing class and Art 351: Drawing class. The exhibition will be on display through May 2nd.

Art 200: Fundamentals of Art-Drawing introduces students to the basic concepts of two-dimensional design with an emphasis on drawing. Students are introduced to the visual arts through observing from life, imaginative thinking and learning to create imagery on paper. Art 351: Drawing investigates drawing as a form and means of evolving ideas.

Both courses are required for matriculating art minors. Design concepts focus on the visual elements of art and the principles of design through hands-on material application. Materials can be charcoal, graphite, pastel and India ink. Students also learn to develop creative problem solving skills, acquire an understanding of an artist’s intentions and form an appreciation for the art-making process.
