The University of Maine at Fort Kent marks a decade of continuous success by once again making the list with the prestigious publication, The Princeton Review, and claiming the title of a Best Northeastern College for a tenth year running among colleges and universities in the 11-state Northeastern region.

UMFK is one of 226 outstanding colleges and universities that “The Princeton Review” recommends to college applicants in its 2015 print and online editions. The colleges and universities the publication selects are located in eleven states: Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, and the District of Columbia.

The news comes on the heels of another accomplishment as UMFK advanced in position as a Top Public College in the North region, according to the U.S. News and World Report 2015 rankings. The latest U.S. News & World Report rankings put UMFK in the top tier, ranked 37th, which is up two spots from last year. That ranks UMFK as 10th among public colleges in the North and follows four consecutive years as a top-15 public institution.

The Princeton Review is a nationally-recognized and highly-respected publication that students and parents alike use to select an institution of higher learning.

The Princeton Review chooses the best northeastern colleges based upon institutional data it collects from several hundred schools in each region, from its visits to schools over the years, and from the opinions of independent and high school-based college advisers whose recommendations the group solicits.

The Princeton Review also takes into account what each school's customers – its students – report to them about their campus experiences in an 80-question survey. The survey asks students to rate their schools in several categories, from the accessibility of their professors to the quality of the campus food. It also asks questions about themselves, their fellow students, and campus life.

“What makes The Princeton Review such a valuable ranking” said UMFK President Wilson G. Hess, “is that it is heavily weighted on student input.”
