There is something in the heart that yearns to hear the fiddle, and the University of Maine at Fort Kent Foundation will satisfy that longing at its fall 2015 event when the Wednesday Evening Fiddlers play for the community on Sunday, October 18, 2015 at 2 p.m. at the University's Fox Auditorium.

Fiddle music from many artists and traditions ensure the event will entertain people of all ages and backgrounds.

Hailing from the Victoria/Carleton County region of New Brunswick and neighboring Aroostook County Maine, this group of amazing fiddlers and accompanists range from age 10 to 95. They play for many local fundraisers, variety shows, and jamborees. The popular group has performed Downeast-style fiddle selections since 1988.

The Wednesday Evening Fiddlers gained their name from the public jam sessions and practices the group hosts each Wednesday at the St. James United Church Hall in Perth-Andover, Canada.

Tickets to the performance are $10 per person. You may purchase them through the UMFK Development Office at 834-7800, or at the door on the day of the performance.

All proceeds go to the UMFK Foundation which supports endowed scholarships, student and faculty research, state-of-the-art technology upgrades, cultural events, library collections, and other campus investments not budgeted for in the University's annual operating budget.
