The University of Maine at Fort Kent Student Nurses Organization will host a pediatric health fair on Friday, May 10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the UMFK Sports Center.
The fair is for kindergarten to eighth grade from Eagle Lake, Frenchville, Fort Kent, St. Francis, and Wallagrass elementary schools. The fair will help children see and understand the importance of health and nutrition in a fun and activity-filled way.
UMFK nursing students will be involved in booth setup for topics to include: nutrition, obesity prevention, physical activity, dental health, good hand-washing techniques, fire safety, to name a few.
Representatives from the Fort Kent Fire Department, the Maine Forest Rangers, Smokey the Bear, a local dentist, and much more will be on-site.
“The Student Nurses Organization is thrilled to have five schools confirm attendance, as this will help facilitate learning and bring together children from five different communities. It should be fun for all,” noted SNO President Emily Worcester.
