The St. John Valley Senior College program will hold an open house to Kick-Off their Spring 2015 course line up on Friday, March 20, at 4:00 pm at the Fort Kent Senior Center.
The St. John Valley Senior College program was established in 2007 and has since seen remarkable growth and success. The program provides a wide variety of courses and excursions for individuals aged 50 and older. Classes in the arts, sciences, history, personal enrichment, current events, technology, and topics relating to aging are taught by volunteer instructors, do not have tests or homework, and are open to anyone – no previous college experience is ever required. St. John Valley Senior College is a partnership between the University of Maine at Fort Kent, MSAD #27 Adult and Community Education, and the Fort Kent Elderly Action Council.
The Kick-Off will include a review of the fun and exciting classes being offered this spring, as well as an opportunity to meet Senior College Board members and some past and current course instructors. Attendees also will be able to register for the spring term. A $15 membership per term allows seniors the opportunity to take as many classes as they wish per term.
The Kick-Off is free and open to the public. Senior College board members encourage everyone to attend, learn more about the program, and socialize, while enjoying a little wine, cheese, and good company.
