The University of Maine at Fort Kent Foundation will present its annual dinner/performance fundraising event on Saturday, April 13, 2013 beginning at 5 p.m. This year's musical entertainment will be provided by jazz singer, Ms. Vicki Burns, of New York City.
The annual dinner/performance is the Foundation's primary fundraising event of the year. Last year the event raised more than $14,000 to support endowed scholarships and campus investments.
The annual event includes a social hour at 5 p.m. and five-course gourmet dinner beginning at 6 p.m., both in Nowland Hall. The dinner will be catered and donated by Aramark food services.
At the dinner, the Foundation will present its annual research award to a member of the UMFK faculty. This year's recipient is Professor of Biology and Environmental Studies, Dr. Steven B. Selva. Dr. Selva has been a member of the UMFK faculty since 1976. He is a noted scholar and much-published author on the subject of lichenology.
Following dinner, the evening's activities move to Fox Auditorium at 8 p.m., where Ms. Burns will provide musical entertainment full of rhythm and jazz tunes. She will be accompanied by guitarist Saul “Zebulon” Rubin.
At 9 p.m. the evening will end on a sweet note with a post-performance dessert and champagne reception held in the Nadeau Hall Teleconference Room.
Individual tickets and sponsorship opportunities for the dinner/performance fundraising event are available through the UMFK Development Office by calling 834-7800.
The UMFK Foundation supports endowed scholarships, student and faculty research, state-of-the-art technology upgrades, cultural events, new equipment, library collections, and other campus investments not budgeted for in the University's annual operating budget.
