Lise Pelletier, director of the Acadian Archives acadiennes at the University of Maine at Fort Kent, taught the history of Acadians and of the St. John Valley at a training workshop for local teachers. The workshop was held at the Archives on Friday, March 7, 2014.

The area teachers utilized items from two pedagogical “trunks,” to assist them in teaching the history of Acadia and the St. John Valley. The trunks include historical texts, documentary DVDs, maps, visual aids, historical novels for every age level, books about Cadian Louisiana, music, lesson plans, and an activities booklet created for the Congrès mondial acadien 2014.

A grant from the Maine Acadian Heritage Council paid for the supplies.

After the completion of the workshop, each participant received a poster of the Acadian "Grand Dérangement" and a booklet of educational activities about the Congrès mondial acadien.
