“Paul Cyr Photography,” an exhibition of prize-winning photographic works, will be on display at the University of Maine at Fort Kent's Acadian Archives/Archives acadiennes through September 30, 2015.

Hamlin native Paul Cyr started taking pictures in the early 1960s and his photography has become a lifetime hobby. Paul spends time every day looking for new photographic opportunities. He takes 99 percent of his photographs in northern Maine, most within ten miles of his Presque Isle home. Late summer aerials, which hold a prominent location at the archives, are some of his favorite scenes to shoot.

The exhibit is free and open to the public during the Archives' regular business hours, Mondays through Fridays, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. during the summer months.

More than twenty County businesses use Paul's prize-winning photographs for websites, Facebook pages, covers of reports, tourist guides, to mention a few. People will find his photographs featured prominently in Barcroft media of London, U.K.; Bangor Metro, Boston Globe, Yankee, and DownEast magazines; Pratt & Whitney, and Bath Iron Works. Paul Cyr and his works have been featured twice on “Bill Greene's Maine.”

Last year, Cyr and author Dottie Hutchins published Acadian Roots: Images of the St. John Valley/Racines acadiennes: Images de la Vallée Saint-Jean.
