Cybersecurity academic programs in Maine originated from UMFK, and this most northern campus continues to lead the effort. The Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity is available through a partnership between the university campuses of Augusta, Fort Kent, Orono, and Machias, and will incorporate a multidisciplinary perspective through a combination of computer science, communications, and ethics courses, with a post-baccalaureate option.

Cybersecurity is an evolving discipline that involves the study of strategy, policy, and standards regarding the security of, and operations in, cyberspace. The program will prepare students for career opportunities or advanced education in the cybersecurity field including positions in security analysis, information assurance, digital forensics, intelligence, and cyber defense to name a few.

With billions of dollars in global losses due to cybersecurity exploits, the need for trained experts is growing at an astonishing rate. The goals of the degree program are to prepare students to better understand, prevent, detect, react, and recover from threats to cybersecurity.

Students will be able to take required courses completely online, or through a combination of live, online and ITV classes. Students can enroll now for the fall 2015 semester.
