The University of Maine at Fort Kent Board of Visitors' Business Breakfast Series will present an informational session by Devore S. Culver, Executive Director and CEO of HealthInfoNet on Tuesday, January 26 at 7:30 a.m. in the Nadeau Hall Conference Room on the UMFK campus.
Executive Director Culver will speak about advancements in the statewide Health Information Exchange (HIE) program; a secure computer system for doctors, hospitals and healthcare providers to share important health information and improve patient care. The HIE system links medical information from separate health care sites to create a single electronic patient health record, then allows authorized providers to see that record to support patient care. HealthInfoNet also provides connection to the state prescription monitoring program, public health reporting, event of care notifications, and population analytics and reporting services.
“The healthcare sector is a vital component of the local economy,” states Heather Pelletier, CEO of Fish River Rural Health and member of UMFK's Board of Visitors. “Healthcare providers continually seek ways to improve patient health and services. This breakfast presentation will highlight an exciting new approach to patient health information sharing that will be of great benefit to the state and to the local community.”
Tickets for the breakfast are $12 each, and interested persons may purchase their ticket at the UMFK University Relations Office, or by calling 834-7557. Deadline for purchasing tickets is Monday, January 18.
