Entries needed for Homecoming/Scarecrow Festival Parade

The University of Maine at Fort Kent is looking for area businesses, clubs, organizations, and individuals interested in placing an entry in the homecoming/scarecrow parade that will take place on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 11 a.m.

Parade line-up will begin at 10 a.m. at the courthouse on Market Street, with the parade proceeding at 11 a.m.  from Market onto East and West Main Streets, through the downtown Circle K (former Irving Mainway) parking lot, up Elm Street, and ending at the UMFK president’s residence, where awards will be given out. The deadline to sign up is Friday, September 16, 2016. 

Plaques will be awarded in several categories, including the most creative, best musical, best non-profit, best business entry, judges’ choice, best “Scarecrow Theme” entry.

The parade is among the most popular events of the annual UMFK Homecoming and the Greater Fort Kent Area Chamber of Commerce Scarecrow Festival to be held from Friday, September 23 through Sunday, September 25.

Parade entry forms are available through the Greater Fort Kent Area Chamber of Commerce office, located at 291 West Main Street.
