Entries needed for Homecoming/Scarecrow Festival Parade

The University of Maine at Fort Kent is looking for area businesses, organizations, and individuals interested in placing an entry in the homecoming/scarecrow parade that will take place on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 11 a.m.

The parade line-up will be at the Fort Kent Courthouse from 10:15 to 10:45 a.m. At 11 a.m. the parade will wind its way down Market, East Main, and end up on Pleasant Street.

The parade is among the most popular events of the annual UMFK Homecoming and the Greater Fort Kent Area Chamber of Commerce Scarecrow Festival held from Friday, September 13 through Sunday, September 15.

Plaques will be awarded in several categories, including the most creative, best musical, best non-profit, best business entry, judges' choice, best vintage vehicle, and best logging entry. The parade will have its customary “scarecrow” theme, and new this year, it will include a “Northern Maine's logging heritage” theme.

Parade entry forms are available through the UMFK Alumni Affairs office or the Greater Fort Kent Area Chamber of Commerce office.
