An international collaboration between the Acadian Archives, the Société historique du Madawaska and the Très Art+ group of artists of St-Basile, N.B., which includes: Louise Giroux, Monique McCool, Jean Pelletier, George S. Pérusse, and Madeleine (Mado) Roy, “The Cradle of Madawaska” art exhibit will be on display at the University of Maine at Fort Kent's Acadian Archives/Archives acadiennes through July 2016.

According to Lise Pelletier, the director of the Acadian Archives, “The work of these artists explores five themes in oil, acrylic, and charcoal: The History of Madawaska (by Father Thomas Albert); The Great Wars WWI and WWII; Madawaska: A New Permanent Settlement; Acadia of the Lands and Forests; and views of the blockhouse P'tit Sault.”

The exhibit is free and open to the public during the Archives' regular business hours, Mondays through Fridays, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., excluding holidays.

“There will be a wine and cheese mixer to celebrate the opening of the new exhibit on Friday, May 6, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.,” said Pelletier. “The public is invited to attend!”
