Pet-Friendly Community

UMFK is the only college or university in Maine that allows your small pet to live with you in one of the residence halls on campus. UMFK has designated Crocker Hall as our Pet-Friendly Community. Students who wish to bring their pet must complete the Residence Hall Questionnaire & Room and Board License and the Pet-Friendly Community Application.

The animals that are permitted to live on campus are limited to the following:

  • Cat
  • Hamster
  • Gerbil
  • Bird (depending on type)
  • Hermit crab(s)

If your pet is not included on the list, please email umfk.reslife@maine.edu to discuss your particular pet and request consideration. Note that dogs, rabbits, turtles, snakes, lizards, hedgehogs, spiders, and scorpions will not be considered.

Limited rooms are available in the Pet-Friendly Community and students must submit all required additional documentation before being approved to live in the Pet-Friendly Community.

The Pet Friendly Community sign-up process is first-come, first-serve. Students should plan to bring a pet they already own. Students will be required to sign the Pet-Friendly Community Student & Pet Agreement Form before being permitted to move into their room.
