UMFK Foundation Selects New Leadership

UMFK newly hired developement officer Shannon LugdonThe University of Maine at Fort Kent Foundation is pleased to announce the selection of their new Development Officer and Foundation Liaison, Shannon Lugdon.

“We have enjoyed a strong Foundation due to wonderful donors and the dedicated work of the former Development Officer, Linda Deprey, who announced her retirement earlier this year,” said UMFK President John Short. “Linda worked tirelessly to strengthen the Foundation for the last fifteen years. We will greatly miss her, but are pleased that we will have such a smooth transition.”

Lugdon currently works at UMFK in the Community Education office. Though she has spent a majority of her career in education, Lugdon began her career in non-profit work in New York when she kept the books for a 501(c)(3) daycare. When she and her family moved back to Fort Kent six years ago, she transitioned to managing the books for her church as well as a local private business. She is well-versed in state and federal regulations for non-profit organizations.

“On behalf of the Foundation Board of Directors, we offer our sincere appreciation and thanks to Linda for her many years of dedicated service to the UMFK Foundation and it's mission,” said UMFK Foundation Board of Directors President Steff Gagne. “It is vital that the Foundation have a seamless transition and that the community feel comfortable with whomever is the coordinator. Ms. Lugdon is an excellent fit for us.”

Valley residents will recognize Lugdon from her work as director of Lugdon Adventure Camp in Eagle Lake as well as her involvement in community activities. She is accustomed to working with donors for scholarships to the summer camp, for which she is leading to the process to become a 501(c)(3).

“I feel privileged to be given this opportunity,” said Lugdon. “I enjoy working with students and seeing them succeed. UMFK’s Foundation provides so many essential scholarship opportunities for our students and I am humbled to now be a part of that process.”
