Memoir Writing Talk and Workshop by Maine author Elizabeth Peavey on April 30th

Elizabeth Peavey memoir-writer workshop and maine wiriter On Tuesday, April 30, 2019 celebrated Maine author, Elizabeth Peavey, will present a memoir-writing talk and workshop on the University of Maine at Fort Kent campus at the Grindle conference room from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.  

Whether you’re knee-deep in your writing project or looking for a way to begin, this two-part workshop will give you the tools and guidance necessary to move forward.

In the first two hours, Peavey will discuss the challenges of memoir: Where do we start and end? How do we discern fact from memory? How honest do we need to be, especially when the “truth” involves others? And how do we make the details of our lives as compelling to the reader as they are to ourselves? The second two hours, to begin at will be dedicated to reading and sharing our writing, using the tools and concepts from the morning’s talk.

Part I is open to the general public. Sign-up is required for Part II, space is limited and slots are allotted on a first-come, first-served basis. There is a $10 fee for Part II.  For those participating in Part II, please bring three copies of one completed essay or a section of your memoir-in-progress (no longer than 750 words, please) for discussion and critique. Constructive critiquing techniques will be offered to create a supportive and nurturing environment.
