Call out for musicians and entertainers for UMFK Annual Fiddlers' Jamboree

Organizers of the 2016 UMFK Fiddlers' Jamboree have put out a call to area musicians and entertainers asking performing artists to pick up an instrument, warm up their vocal chords and join in a popular musical event. It's in preparation of the biggest jam session in Aroostook County, and organizers are looking for local talent to participate in the concert and house party, which the university holds every year on the University of Maine at Fort Kent campus.

The university will host the jamboree, which has become a St. John Valley tradition, on Sunday, February 7, 2016 from 1 to 4 p.m. in UMFK's Fox Auditorium.

The event brings together talented musicians for an afternoon of impromptu performances of astonishing skill that delights music lovers of all ages. In the past, the jamboree has drawn both performers and an audience from throughout Aroostook County and western New Brunswick.

The jamboree exceeds its popularity each time it comes around, and the attendance has grown over the years. In addition to being an event that audience members look forward to each year, the jamboree also is a favorite of the musicians who perform.

Organizers invite and encourage fiddlers, guitarists, other acoustic musicians, and singers to take part in the Sunday afternoon concert.
