The University of Maine at Fort Kent, in collaboration with the University of Southern Maine, will host an informational session for individuals interested in earning a Master of Science in Counseling degree on Thursday, February 19 at 6:30 p.m. in Nadeau Hall Alumni Conference Room.

The Fort Kent cohort is a USM Master's degree program that is supported by UMFK so people in Aroostook County can access the program without leaving the County. Classes mostly are through distance education technologies such as the following: ITV (interactive television), videoconferencing, and online. There also are three classes that organizers will offer on the UMFK campus.

The Council on Rehabilitation Education (CORE) provides a national accreditation for the USM Master's program, and students who complete the three-and-a-half year program will be eligible for national certiļ¬cation as a rehabilitation counselor. Those students who decide to take an additional two classes of targeted coursework will be eligible for state mental health counseling licensure as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC).
