UMFK Honors Douglas Cyr with Distinguished Service Award

Doug Cyr distinguished service award recipient for 2020The University of Maine at Fort Kent is pleased to announce that Douglas Cyr of Fort Kent has been awarded the Distinguished Service Award. This award is given to individuals who have gone above and beyond in service to UMFK.

“From his tireless work on the 2018 Bond package that resulted in our new Enrollment and Advancement Center, to his service on our Board of Visitors, Mr. Cyr has helped us advance the mission of UMFK,” said UMFK President Dr. Deb Hedeen.

Douglas Cyr is currently the Senior Human Resource Manager for Irving Woodlands, LLC and Irving Forest Products, Inc for their Maine operations. Some of his previous professional experience includes Assistant Customer Service Manager, Demand Planner, Specialty & Converting Team Leader, and Customer Service/Inside Sales Representative for Twin Rivers Paper / Fraser Papers LTD in Madawaska, Maine. Before that, he worked for Trico Mechanical Contractors, Inc. in Scarborough, Maine as Operations Manager and also as Benefits/HR Generalist. Mr. Cyr has been involved with many organizations over the years in various capacities. Currently he serves on the following such as Northern Maine Medical Center Board of Trustee, St. John Valley Technical School advisory board, ForME Workforce Governor’s Initiative and is the Fort Kent Community High School varsity girls soccer coach.

He has served with the following organizations: UMFK Board of Visitors (Past President), Local Workforce Investment Board, Lonesome Pine Trails Board (Past President), Fort Kent Chamber of Commerce Board, Maine Loggers Education Alliance, St. John Valley Career Pathways and the Fort Kent Masonic AF&AM.

Mr. Cyr received his bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies; Business/Economics from the University of Maine at Farmington in 1999. He has also received Executive Business certification in both Leadership Foundations and Coaching for Exception Results through Richard Ivey School of Business in London, Ontario. He resides in Fort Kent with his wife Dawn and their three children Morgan, Julia and Dominic.
