University of Maine at Fort Kent Associate Professor of Electronic Commerce, Anthony Gauvin, has been selected to serve on the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Small Business Innovation Research Program (SBIR) Rural and Community Development (CRD) panel.

Gauvin was notified of his selection to the panel in a letter from Dr. Charles F. Cleland, SBIR National Program Leader, and from Dr. Brent Elrod, National Program Leader for CRD.

The function of the panel is review funding proposals. Professor Gauvin's designated areas of expertise are: community development, e-Commerce, computer science, rural economic development, and rural sustainable development.

Gauvin will be asked to review a total of 12 or 13 proposals as primary, secondary or tertiary reviewer. As some proposals may only have one ad-hoc review, Gauvin's in-depth review of the proposals will be critical.

Gauvin has been a member of the UMFK faculty since 2002.
