The University of Maine at Fort Kent Summer Theatre, now entering its ninth season, is pleased to announce open auditions for its summer 2016 production of “The Miser,” by Molière.

Auditions for this classic farce will take place on Thursday, June 23 and Friday. June 24 from 7 to 9 p.m. in UMFK's Fox Auditorium or by appointment.

Actors of all ages and experience levels are sought, and for those who don't care to be onstage, backstage, and technical volunteers also are welcome.

“Times are tight in the St. John Valley. Our financial resources, which were never abundant, are dwindling. This community excels at caring for each other during hard times, and this play explores the ramifications of greed and the value of generosity in an insightful and hilarious way that will resonate with our community. Molière knows that misers reap what they sow, and is comically merciless in his depiction. Please come create some great theatre with us this summer,” said Aaron Bernstein, UMFK Summer Theatre producer.

The performances of “The Miser” will be held in Fox Auditorium on Thursday, July 28 through Saturday, July 30 at 7 p.m., and on Sunday, July 31 at 2 p.m.

For more information or to schedule an audition appointment outside the open auditions, please contact Aaron Bernstein at (207) 834-7893 or by e-mail: aaronb@maine.edu
