UMFK Nursing Honor Society Inducts 29 New Members

Twenty-nine current University of Maine at Fort Kent nursing students were inducted into the UMFK Nursing Honor Society at a special ceremony held on Thursday, April 18, 2013 in the Nadeau Hall Teleconference Room.

Officially welcomed into the nursing honor society were: Julie J. Bouchard (Fort Kent); Nicole M. Bouchard (Eagle Lake); Monique D. Boutot (Winterville Plantation); Jodi P. Cote (Connor Township); Kyle B. Cunningham (Fort Kent); Jennifer M. Dionne (St. David); Alexandra E. Drummond (Veazie); Megan S. Dube (Eagle Lake); Sokharath Duong (South Portland); Candace Gagnon (Madawaska); Emmaly S. Jurson (Hodgdon); Justin E. Lutterman (Madawaska); Kelly J. McCoubrey (Meddybemps); Kiely P. McCrea (South Thomaston); Hannah J. Mikkonen (Peru); Katherine A. Morneault (Caribou); Jennifer M. Morris (Belfast); Russ K. Mortland (Presque Isle); Stephanie S. Plourde (Caribou); Devvan T. Powers (Fort Kent); Abigail M. Randall (Skowhegan); Chris J. Schock (Fort Kent); Kevin J. Smith (Blaine); Rachel A. Storey (Cumberland); Nina M. Theriault (Fort Kent); Ronda L. All students have excelled in the four-year Bachelor of Science in nursing program at UMFK and are very active in campus activities.

The UMFK Nursing Honor Society was formed in the spring of 1998 for the purpose of recognizing and fostering academic excellence and scholarship among students, alumni, and community leaders in nursing.

Students with a grade point average of 3.0 or above, in the top 30% of their graduating class, and who represent the attributes of scholarship as defined by Boyer (1990) and Sigma Theta Tau, the International Honor Society for Nursing, were eligible for induction to the Honor Society.

In addition to the induction, the ceremony featured a keynote address by Joanne Fortin, RN.
