The University of Maine at Fort Kent Blake Library Gallery is featuring, “Reaching for Visual Unity,” the work of students in Therese Provenzano's Art 200 Fundamentals of Art class. The exhibition is on display through Wednesday, April 23.

Art 200 Fundamentals of Art is a hands-on studio course students can take to meet their Arts & Humanities general education requirement. The main course objective is for students to learn the visual elements of art and the principles of design through the exploration of various wet and dry media. The wet and dry media are: charcoal, graphite, pastel and watercolor.

Provenzano shares, “Most of the students used materials for the first time and gained a comfort level within its possibilities and limitations. Students also gained a sense of what makes a drawing or painting read complete and characteristically strong by developing visual unity.”

The UMFK art students represented in the exhibition are: Sierra Chapman, Jayne Cousins, Kelsey Damon, Kayandra Greenwood, Nasteho Issa, Amber Kelley, Kellyn McGillan, Amos Michaud, and Habiba Mohamed.

The exhibition can be viewed during library hours. For further information, please contact Gallery Curator, Sofia Birden at (207) 834-7527.
