UMFK Environmental Studies Speaker Series features presentation on vegetation management near power lines

Glenn P. Nadeau, vegetation management specialist for Maine Public Service Company, will speak on “Vegetation management on power lines and logging safety near power lines” as part of the University of Maine at Fort Kent's Environmental Studies Speakers Series on Friday, April 19 at 11 a.m. in the Nadeau Hall Teleconference Room. The talk is free and open to the general public.

Glenn Nadeau has served as the Vegetation Management Specialist for Maine Public Service Company since 1990. Nadeau's duties include supervision of vegetation management contractors performing transmission and distribution line clearance, chemical vegetation control of transmission and distribution rights-of-way and substations, initial clearing and reclamation of power line rights-of-way and pole inspection and treatment. His duties also include providing arboricultural advice and services to customers and community organizations.

Nadeau is a Maine licensed professional forester and landscape and utility arborist; International Society of Arboriculture certified arborist; and holds a master level, Maine Board of Pesticides Control and Commercial Pesticide applicator's license.

Glenn Nadeau earned a bachelor of science degree in forestry from the University of Maine and has been certified as a professional manager by the Institute of Certified Professional Managers.

Nadeau's professional affiliations include the Society of American Foresters, Utility Arborists Association, Maine Arborists Association, International Society of Arboriculture, and National Arbor Day Foundation. He also serves on the Forestland Group Advisory Committee and the University of Maine Cooperative Extension Pesticide Advisory Team.

The Environmental Studies Speaker Series at UMFK regularly brings speakers to campus. These presentations cover such topics as water quality, waste management, wind power, endangered species, forestry, and marine science. The program is offered in collaboration with the UMFK Environmental Studies degree program.
