The University of Maine at Fort Kent's Presidential Lecture Series committee has awarded three individuals as the winners in the UMFK-sponsored bi-annual writing contest conducted this spring.
University of Maine at Fort Kent students enrolled in the TRIO Student Support Services program recently participated in this year's Maine TRIO Day. The event was held at the Hall of Flags in the State House in Augusta with TRIO educators and students from across the State.
Ellery “Arms” Labbe, a long-time Fort Kent businessman and community volunteer will be presented with the University of Maine at Fort Kent's Distinguished Service Award at the University's 131st Commencement on Saturday, May 18, for his years of service to the people of his community and throughout the state.

Former state Representative, John L. Martin, will address the graduates at the University of Maine at Fort Kent's 131st Commencement on Saturday, May 18 in the University's Sports Center. Representative Martin also will receive an honorary doctorate degree during the ceremonies.
The University of Maine at Fort Kent Foundation raised more than $16,600 -- a record amount -- at its eighth annual spring dinner/performance held on Saturday evening, April 13 on the UMFK campus. Proceeds from the fundraising event help support endowed scholarships, faculty and student research, and special projects not budgeted for in the University's operating budget.
