The University of Maine at Fort Kent will host its annual “Earth Day - Every Day,” on Friday, April 15 at the Sports Center from 12:30 to 2:10 p.m.

The University of Maine at Fort Kent Environmental Studies Speaker Series will host a presentation by Emmanuelle Fréchette on Friday, April 15 from 11 a.m. to 12 noon in UMFK's Nadeau Hall conference room.

The presentation is titled “Remote sensing as tool for ecosystem productivity assessment and sustainable forest management.” In this talk, she will present remote sensing applications and recent research developments for ecosystem productivity assessment, as well as sustainable forest management.

The Tournées French Film Festival will begin on Sunday, April 17 and will run through Wednesday, April 27. All films will be shown at the University of Maine Fort Kent's Nadeau Hall conference room.

The festival will feature a series of six different contemporary French language films over a two-week period. The films will be shown in French, with English subtitles. Admission is free and the public is encouraged to attend.

The University of Maine at Fort Kent's Arts and Science's English Program selected author Sarah Creech as the sixth Waneta T. Blake Visiting Professor.

Sarah Creech will offer a workshop “A Writer's Journey” on Tuesday, April 12. The public writers' workshop will be held from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the Nadeau Hall conference room. Pre-registration is not required.

The University of Maine at Fort Kent will host a panel discussion on traumatic brain injury on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 from 6 to 9 p.m. at UMFK's Fox Auditorium. The presentation is free and the public is encouraged to attend.

The evening event will begin with a presentation by keynote speaker, Dr. Peter Keebler, from Eastern Maine Medical Center.

An event that is shaping up to be the highlight of the spring season, The University of Maine at Fort Kent Foundation will present its eleventh annual dinner/performance fundraising event on Saturday, April 16, 2016, beginning at 5:00 p.m. Natives of Maine, The Mallett Brothers Band will provide this year's entertainment.

Dr. Tanya Sleeper, interim vice president for academic affairs at the University of Maine at Fort Kent, has announced that 270 full-time and 188 part-time students were named to the Dean's List for the fall 2015 semester.
