Fort Kent - The University of Maine at Fort Kent graduating seniors received their degrees at the 134th commencement exercises held at UMFK on May 14. University President John N. Short presided over the ceremony that conferred 191 baccalaureate degrees and 27 associate degrees.
The University of Maine at Fort Kent Board of Visitors is encouraging the public to attend a Business Breakfast featuring guest speaker, Eliot Cutler. The breakfast will take place on Wednesday, June 1, at 7:30 a.m. in the Nadeau Hall conference room on the UMFK campus.
The TRIO, Student Support Services Program, at the University of Maine at Fort Kent held its eighth annual recognition banquet on April 28, to honor students involved in the TRIO program. UMFK Interim Vice President of Academic Affairs Tanya Sleeper provided the welcome address.

The University of Maine at Fort Kent Blake Library Gallery is featuring Compositions and Constructs in Drawing and Painting, the works of students in Thérèse L. Provenzano's Art 430: Drawing and Painting class from the 2016 spring semester. The exhibition will be on display through May 16.
An international collaboration between the Acadian Archives, the Société historique du Madawaska and the Très Art+ group of artists of St-Basile, N.B., which includes: Louise Giroux, Monique McCool, Jean Pelletier, George S. Pérusse, and Madeleine (Mado) Roy, “The Cradle of Madawaska” art exhibit will be on display at the University of Maine at Fort Kent's Acadian Archives/Archives acadiennes through July 2016.
Selected by the University of Maine at Fort Kent's Arts and Sciences English program, writer Sarah Creech is UMFK's sixth Waneta T. Blake Visiting Professor. According to UMFK Associate Professor of English and Creative Writing, Geraldine Cannon Becker, “Sarah was chosen because she is well-known in the creative writing field. I also have a personal connection to her, as she is a former student of mine.”
The University of Maine at Fort Kent Student Activities will host magician Brian Miller, who will captivate his audience by his unique blend of magic, puzzles, and mind games mixed with a healthy dose of humor, on Friday, April 22 in Fox Auditorium at 7 p.m.
The University of Maine at Fort Kent's seventh annual Scholars' Symposium will take place on Tuesday, April 26 on the UMFK campus. The theme of this year's event is “Coloring Outside the Lines.”
The University of Maine at Fort Kent and the University of Maine at Machias announce they are piloting a new, online Early College partnership. This pilot brings together two University of Maine System campuses in collaboration to expand the number of course choices for Early College students throughout the state of Maine.
