Excellent academics. Affordable tuition. Personalized support. Oh yeah, you’ll also have the adventure of a lifetime in one of the most beautiful parts of the country! Ready for all that and more? Then apply now to the University of Maine at Fort Kent - it’s easy when you follow these steps.

Step 1 - Visit Our Apply Page to Get Started

Once on our apply page, you’ll see that you have two applications to choose from: the Common Application and ApplyMaine. While each is a little different, both are FREE to use!

  • Common App - It’s used by nearly 1,000 colleges and universities across the country, including UMFK. After you create an account, look up the “University of Maine at Fort Kent” and follow the step-by-step directions.
  • ApplyMaine - Used by all the schools in the University of Maine system, ApplyMaine is very similar to the Common App in terms of needed information.

Note: Admission requirements include a diploma from an approved secondary school and a GPA of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale. A completed GED equivalent is also acceptable.

Step 2 - Get Ready to Apply

First off, get comfy (we don’t mind if you apply in your pajamas). Next, make sure you have everything you need to complete your application. At UMFK, required documents include the following:

  • Completed application form (Common App or ApplyMaine)
  • Letter of recommendation (school counselor or teacher)
  • Official high school transcripts or official GED score report

●      Official college transcripts, if you’ve completed any college work

While not required, you can also include a personal statement. This is a great way to enhance your application so you stand out from other applicants.

You might have noticed that we didn’t mention SAT or ACT scores. That’s because they’re not required! But feel free to submit your scores. Like a personal statement, solid scores can only enhance your application and merit-scholarship opportunity.

Step 3 - Unlock Financial Aid

With low tuition, UMFK is already one of the most affordable options in the country. (Check out our Promise Program to see what we mean.) To help even more with your college expenses, you will need to unlock all the financial aid that may be available to you, including scholarships and grants (FREE MONEY!). The key is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

  1. Collect your family’s tax return information.
  2. Go to studentaid.gov and register (if you haven’t already).
  3. Follow the step-by-step directions to file your FAFSA - It’s free!
  4. Ensure your name, address, and date of birth match what’s on your admission application.

Remember to include UMFK school code 002041 on your FAFSA so we can prepare your financial aid package. We love helping students pay for their dreams!

Ready to launch your future at UMFK? Then apply now - we look forward to learning more about you!
