The Acadian Archives/Archives acadiennes is a repository for audio-visual documentation, maps, and manuscript materials relevant to the folklore and folklife of the Upper Saint John Valley and for original documents and copies of archival materials pertaining to the history of the region, including cartographic materials.
The Archives will only acquire material on a permanent basis, except when borrowing materials for short-term loans to reproduce or to include in displays or exhibits.
Books, published materials, and artifacts are generally not acquired by the Archives unless there are special or compelling reasons for them to accompany or supplement acquired archival records. The Archives does maintain a small library of relevant reference books and publications (i.e. rare or out-of-print books and publications), as well as various genealogical research materials.
