If you are neither a U.S. Citizen nor eligible noncitizen, you are not eligible for U.S. Federal financial aid. Student employment may be available through the University work-study program. This program usually allows a student to work 7-8 hours a week on campus. To be considered for this type of employment, a University work-study application is required.
Information specific to Canadian students is available here.
Students are encouraged to seek financial assistance through sponsors and/or Alternative loans.
International students may be eligible to apply for the following scholarships (if the individual scholarship's criteria are met):
Alternative Loans (in U.S. funds) through U.S. lenders may provide financial assistance to students and/or parents who are unable to borrow through traditional student loan programs or are unable to borrow sufficient money to cover college costs. The submission of the FAFSA is not usually required to be considered for this type of assistance.
A limited amount of University money may be available to assist students who may not qualify for assistance through the Federal Work Study Program. Students are limited to part-time employment during the school term but may work 40 hours per week (for an average of 7.5 weeks) if employed under the summer University Work Study Program. Eligibility is not based on need. The FAFSA is not required to be considered for this type of assistance. Work study earnings are paid by check every two weeks. The application is available online through the My.UMFK portal.
